你问我答学英语第25期:Look、see和watch的学问

发表时间:2017-10-18内容来源:VOA英语学习网
Karen Adams answers: 'Look', 'see' and 'watch' seem very similar, they all talk about different ways of using your eyes. Karen Adams回答道:"Look","see"和"watch" 这三个词非常相似,它们都可以表示“看”的不同方式。 However, there are two very important differences. 但是,它们之间有两个非常显著地差别。 It depends on how you intend to look or watch and how intense the looking is. 那就是:第一,你打算怎样看或观察;第二,这种看或者观察的欲望到底有多强烈。 When we say 'see' we are normally talking about things we can't avoid – so for example, “I opened the curtains and saw some birds outside.” 当我们说‘see’的时候,通常情况下表示我们不可避免地看见某些东西,举个例子,“我拉开窗帘,看见了窗外的小鸟” - I didn't intend to see them, it just happened. ——(这里)并不是我主动地想要看见小鸟,它们只是(恰好)被我看见而已。 However, when we use the verb 'look', we're talking about seeing something with an intention. 但是,当我们用动词‘look’的时候,我们是带着某种意图去“看”。 So, "this morning I looked at the newspaper" – I intended to see the newspaper. 因此,“今天早上我看着报纸”——我(主观地)想要看报纸。 When we watch something, we intend to look at it but we're also looking at it quite intensely, usually because it's moving. 当我们在观察某物的时候,我们(主观地)想要看它,并且通常情况下,由于它是运动着的状态,我们还不得不非常“用心地”去看。 So, for example, "I watched the bus go through the traffic lights." "I watched the movie." 所以,我们会看到这样的句子,“我看见巴士穿过了红绿灯”,“我看了这部电影”。 We want to see it, we're looking at it intensely and it's normally moving. (在这两个句子中)因为我们想要看见它,也因为它处于运动中,所以我们会用心地看。 When we use verbs of the senses, and this group, 'look', 'see' and 'watch' are verbs of sense, there's usually a difference between intention and non-intention. 当我们在运用感官动词,像‘look’,‘see’和‘watch’这组视觉动词的时候,它们之间最大的差别就在于“有意”和“无意”之间。 So, for example, "I heard the radio." - I didn't intend to, it just happened, or, "I listened to the radio" - I switched it on to find my favourite programme. 因此,看下例子,“我听到了收音机”——我并没有想要听,只不过(碰巧)听到而已,另外,“我听了收音机”——我打开收音机,找到了自己喜欢的节目。 Similarly, "I felt the wind on my face." - I didn't intend to feel this, it just happened, or "I touched the fabric." - I intended to feel the fabric. 类似的句子,“我感觉清风拂面”——我没有(主动地)想要这种感觉,只是(恰好)感觉到罢了,另外,“我摸了一下组织物”——我(主观)地想要感受它构造。 It's important when you find these verbs of the senses to gather them together and try to find the differences between them. 当你看到诸如此类的感官动词的时候,把它们收集起来并加以区分是十分重要的。 Remember that when you look at words which seem to be similar it's important to find out exactly the differences between them because basically you can't really use them interchangeably. 当你看到那些非常类似的词的时候,切记将它们准确地区分开来,否则,你在应用的时候只会张冠李戴,混淆不清。 Remember, 'see' – you didn't really intend to, it just happened; 'look' – you intended to do it; and watch you intended to do it and you were looking intensely, usually because it was moving. (最后)"see"——不带“主观意愿地”看,只是(恰好)看见而已;"look"——(主观地)想看;"watch"——(主观地)想看,并且由于物体通常处于运动中的,还得用心地看。 来自:VOA英语网 文章地址: http://www.tingvoa.com/html/20171018/503402.html
