The top stories on ABC News. Suspended Australian CRIcketer Steve Smith has broken down while addressing the media on his arrival home in Sydney from South Africa. The former captain took full responsibility for the ball tampering incident saying it was the biggest regret of his life. In Perth his teammate Cameron Bancroft also spoke emotionally about the scandal apologising and asking for forgiveness over his role. Nine Indian nationals accused of being "Commonwealth Games imposters" have been detained by Australian border force officials at Brisbane Airport. An airline liason officer flagged the group on transit through Thailand on suspicion they weren't genuine travellers. The man accused of arranging the travel, 46-year-old Rakesh Sharma, has been charged with people smuggling and falsifying documents. A Melbourne court has heard from the final witness in a four-week long committal hearing against Catholic cardinal George Pell over historical sexual offences. Cardinal Pell has strenuously denied the charges which involve multiple complainants. And the New South Wales government has backed down on its two billion dollar Sydney stadiums plan. The Sydney Football Stadium will still be knocked down and rebuilt but the Sydney Olympic Stadium will be refurbished to make it into a rectangular stadium. Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the revised plan will save half-a-billion dollars. 来自:VOA英语网 文章地址: http://www.tingvoa.com/18/04/548209.html
